10/03/05: Feel sick..

Lake George made national news with the capsizing of a local tour boat the "Ethan Allen". Apparently the boat tipped in the wake of a larger passing boat, leaving around 21 passengers dead. Another tragedy, another media frenzy to get the best picture... journalism has lost not only its credibility, but its basic dignity.

Speaking of which (That makes no sense), Dana, her parents, sister and I had a blast in Cortland this weekend. We got to see "Dance Works", Tracy's dance team in action, and they did one hell of a good job! After the dancing was over, Dana and I headed off to Ithaca for some waterfalls, and dinner. Here are some pictures from the day. This coming weekend is our hiking trip up Buck mountain, so the waterfalls were a nice warm-up.

No mas, I feel like crap so I'm off.

9/30/05: Cortland or bust!

I introduced myself to The White Stripes' music tonight and I do enjoy. Press play below to check out a pretty kick ass version of the song "I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself".

In other news, had another great night with Dana... which has become par for the course it seems. We are off to Cortland, and Ithaca this weekend video camera in hand. Hilarity shall ensue.

I have never been too into the Harry Potter series, but Aaron showed me the trailer for the newest one coming out in November, and it looks damn good. Check it out here.

9/29/05: Game on!

Our former IT employee Brett Cox sent an email to some of our employees today with a picture of a character form some movie in it. Apparently thinking the character looked like me. He referenced it saying "I didn't know Kevin Sheehan Jr. was in the movies!!". The only thing is he didn't address it to me, and I'm not sure why. But through the proverbial grapevine it was sent to me in the end. So I thought it was only right that I share with our public Brett's recent work since changing professions from IT log, to train conductor. Enjoy!

Starring Brett Cox

The best part of it all is it doesn't require much of a name change.

9/28/05: Princetown beware

No more ranting, it's rude. So! House MD used Damien Rice in the show tonight. For those of you who don't know him, check out a song by pressing play below. His music is pretty damn relaxing to listen to and a nice break from Rage Against the Machine or Tool. (My dad likes it like a fat kid loves dieting)

I was informed by a little birdie tonight that there is a sex offender in the Princetown area. For the sake of this person, I must suggest he keeps a good distance from our house... I think we have practiced that scenario before in the indoor range.

9/27/05: Ranting while away

It's about time I rant. Nobody should take offence when reading this, it has no basis on reality. Topic of choice: Away messages. Simply put, away messages have become a integral part of communication it seems, but some people just use it and abuse it. The following list are categorizing these people:

1: The creative ones (Insert sarcasm here): These people simply use "I am away from my computer right now." Typically, they are... which isn't the point. Simply put, these people had issues passing English Comp I.

2.1: The copy quoter: The intelligence level of these folk isn't up to par, but they will try their hardest to fool you. Something tells me Henry David Thoreau never meant for you to post his words on AIM. I'm working on training a monkey to GoogleŽ search for inspirational/witty and other famous quotes from authors and/or dead presidents.

2.2: Situational quoter: These people are related to the copy quoter, but they use a parallel to what they are doing or an occurrence in their life. I don't know which is worse yet, but both lack originality. Example: "Multiply it by infinity and take it to the depth of forever, and you still will have barely a glimpse of what I am talking about"... OK Joe Black, now go get hit by a car. (I know "quoter" isn't a real word)

3: The conveyer: This person will subtly drop hints to a certain someone, and usually not come off too subtle. For those of you who use this, we all know what your point is and to whom it is being made. Example: "I'm out, not that you care" Translation: I'm in a fight with my significant other everyone, please reply if you find my dignity.

4: The cricket: Sometimes jokes bomb, but when it is in an away message they bomb about 12 times per hour. I must admit, these are the lesser of all evils, but they could use some work.   Example: "Only fools leave away messages" Hmm...The use of irony almost made me pee my dockers.

Honestly, you could compile a 20 page list out of this, but for the sake of time that would be the narrowed down version. So in regards to proper IM etiquette, creativity is key.  Edit: Some quotes taken from visitors of this site, but people I don't know... so I hope you can take a joke if it was you :) If not, write about it in your away message.

9/26/05: Where am I?

What a friggin weekend. Lets recap:

First, a message to Bud Light. I don't advertise for free, so whenever you want to send a $30,000 check in the mail for the following image, feel free. I will be waiting.

Friday: Did my usual shortened daily sleeping routine, then went out with Dana and met some of her friends before grabbing a bite to eat and head off to the Drive in's for a triple feature...which turns out is a lot of movie.

Saturday: Went apple picking in the morning with Dana after spending 35 minutes waiting for food at Panera... but we still had a great time as always though. Pictures of the master pickers are here! After that we met up with Joe, Chris, Ryan Jamie and a few others to head out to downtown Albany for some crazy ass sardine-like dancing. Planned on getting home early, but that didn't work out so well... because we had a Yankees game to go to in the morning!!!

Sunday: Umm.. we went to a Yankees game dummy. Bunch of pictures and video posted up here!! Got back at around 9pm exhausted, and now I am sitting at work after sleeping for 2.5 hours or so, but couldn't be in a better mood to be honest. All you guys are quite right, she is a keeper! :)

9/23/05: In our thoughts

The only update I have today is to please keep the Americans in the path of hurricane Rita in your thoughts and prayers this weekend.

News: Chirped its address?!

Video: Interesting, Englands crime rate goes up 75% in one year after banning pistols?

9/22/05: Rita goes Cat5, still pondering wireless.

Expect oil prices to go up even more here soon, because Texas has oil refineries and a catagory 5 hellstorm named "Rita" headed it's way. I just hope people in that area can get to safety, and we learned from Katrina.

Watching the news earlier, I had to chuckle at one of the newscasters comments. She basically said "I don't think I can remember a night when we had two weather situations, and a emergency plane landing at the same time... this is unprecedented" (in reference to Rita, tornados in Minnisota, and a Jet Blue plane at LAX) I have come to the conclusion that the art of thinking before you speak isn't a prereq for being an anchor. On top of it all, Larry King was commentating during and after said plane landed, and he asked one of the "expert pilots" on the phone if they had to use foam on the runway for the landing... This makes me wonder what channel he was watching when this all occurred. I wish his response was more sarcastic. Did the wheels smoke too elmo? Since when was CNN a acronym for comedy news network. Good skit Larry, keep up the good work.

Video: The Ariel Atom...Christmas is coming folks!

Flash: Strongbad- "Not.. Pigeons"

News?: Man receives ransom note for his kidnapped dog along with a bag of poop. "It looked like my dog's poop, but I'm not a dog-poop analyst"

News: I had a feeling those Starbucks cups would cause issues when I got a nasty one quoted from the head of the NAACP.

9/21/05: Is it fall yet?

College is in full swing, the sun's duration is slowly dwindling, and the leaves are chan.. wait... the leaves are still green. I have heard many excuses as to why the weather is so damn warm still, from the after effects from hurricanes, to... ok I lied that's the only excuse I have heard so far. All I know is it is supposed to hit 85 degrees again today, great sleeping weather...

As usual I spent the last 2 days doing nothing but school, and work. I honestly can't say I mind though, it really makes you appreciate the time in between. Besides, some of these classes are relative to being taught how to find "shift" on the keyboard. Maybe not that simple, but some of the people in class would need an AutoCAD diagram and a map quest printout to even do that. As an example, the teacher stated "Ok, next type the following into the UNIX prompt" and proceeded to write "cc -o Prog1.out Prog1.c"... Simple right? Just type exactly what he wrote on the board people! Darwin failed me again, and we spent literally 10-15 minutes on this task alone. Thank god for cell phone games.

Finally, god got a internet connection. He still doesn't have a AOL account but you can still chat with him here.

News: When generosity is lacking

I have heard that most of you had problems viewing the video's from the last post, if so you're missing a codec. I believe this is what you need.

9/20/05: 2 for 1

So the FTP site has been down, hence my lack of updating. There is one update following this one which didn't get posted due to the problem so it's a plethera of entertaining goodness... or at least to me it is. Jason would be to blame for the problems, and being that we all know he has nothing better to do other then make sure the web services stay up and running, we should all send him a nasty complaint email.

Ken Rau came up to fire off a bunch of rounds at the range last Friday. We had a great time, and hopefully will get to do it again sometime. You would think he shot IDPA style all the time, he was quite safe. Here is the site with pictures and videos from it. Dana came up last week but I never got the video off the camera from that one either. She wasn't safe at all, extremely dangerous and a hazard to all our health actually. Here is the one video that was still on my camera. (I couldn't find my "sarcasm font" so, I was kidding about the danger portion... although she knows that ;)

I know I am disappointing a certain lil lady by not posting the funny "sitting on a pumpkin" portion previously brought up in our conversation, but I forgot to send a file to my work PC... so now you must anticipate.

9/16/05: Livestrong... and retire

Lance Armstrong decided, that despite French claims that he was doping back in 1999, he is calling it quits. It is frustrating that a country well known for a sport he put on the map would make such claims. It's ungrateful, and quite rude to say the least... Either way he is by far one of the best atheletes if not THE best to ever live. He was considering making another run at it next year to rub it in the faces of his accusers, but probably figured they would better understand a surrender.

We celebrated Eddies B-Day tonight with some really good Italian food which I can't pronounce. Then proceeded to play a board game in which by default he won because it was his birthday. Either way we all had a great time :)

9/15/05: Lets make this quick

Video: Listen closely

9/13/05: Class-ick

One week of courses down, umteen to go. Not too shabby from what I have seen so far, as long as we don't suddenly tangent into the theory of enformed systems, it's more then do-able.

Celena sent me this picture from her visit to her new favorite animal sanctuary.(I think that is what you would call it) That was actually me on the phone with her there, and I must say, on the phone baby tigers sound like aliens. Or at least what I figure an alien would sound like over the phone. Either way she loves hanging out with them and possibly has found a new profession, possibly.

People watching at "The Lionheart" on Lark street with Dana was certainly quite the experience. It still amazes me the condition some people put themselves in when they go out, and the fact that they always end up attempting to converse with me in the men's room. Nothing like having someone talk to you about how mad they are at the urinal for moving around on them...

9/12/05: Spotlight on Paul

It seems our new favorite visitor is Paul. Being that every morning he comes into work and repeats the name of the site like Dustin Hoffman in Rainman. I'm not sure if he is referring to me as the site domain name, or just lapsing into some tourettes induced fit of improper synapse firing... either way, at least I won't forget the name of the site. "Hey Fantasticfamily"... thanks buddy!

Brian Peppers creeps me out. Yep, that's a real picture of the fella (Arrested for child molestation no less). Aaron introduced me to him tonight and I must say... my life was better before.

Video: Like I said, evacuation won't be pretty

9/08/05: The Green Glass Door

Beer can go thru, but only in bottles, not cans. 98.24% of the people reading that will have no clue what I am talking about.. but 1.76% will which is good enough for me :)

So the looting continues in New Orleans, until the mandatory evacuation is put into effect. (Which I am assuming isn't going to be too pretty either) Even the cops are looting, er..wait..no.. "doing her job". Now don't get me wrong, I understand the chaotic, desperate situation right now. But lets be serious, a child whose parents use foul language, will follow suit. I don't expect the woman in that video to run around arresting everyone she can, but she has made herself a strong catalyst for anarchy. Besides the fact that I don't think she could catch her breath, let alone a looter. What an individualistic society we became during desperate times...

9/06/05: I laugh a lot

I have determined that laughing a lot feels really good. I was going to study this further and provide schematics, but my word should be good enough for you all. That said, do yourself a favor and start laughing at one another.

My mom rollerbladed into the side of the house tonight, which alone is funny enough (being that she wasn't injured). But the comedic entertainment didn't stop at that. About a hour or so later she completed the skit by walking into the screen door on our way out to the deck. Moral of this story, my Mom is hilarious. Love you mom!

Dad picked up bicycling in the past few weeks and has been kicking some asphalt. He rotates between riding into work and driving home, and vice versa. Before you know it we will have scenarios where you have to ride a bike around the range while shooting stuff, although you could only really go so far before pulling a Mom and riding into a wall. (OK sorry, that's enough!)

9/05/05:Live in Japan

So I got the task of connecting our video teleconferencing equipment to our affiliate in Japan tonight. On the phone it sounded like our IT guy was at a keg party or something and I found out why when the connection was established. He was sitting in a room with about 10 Japanese girls around him, and then the giggling commenced. They all seem like such a nice bunch of people, and even though I couldn't communicate too well with them I made a few new friends.

The Coldplay concert was unbelievable to say the least. They put on one hell of a show and I will certainly be going to see them when they come back into the area. Here are some images...mostly video's though.

Went to a baseball game with the fam and Dana on Friday night. We had such a blast, and Dana even made it on the jumbotron! (Sorta) Nancy was even in the shot too. I'm thinking about having the two of them sign the picture.

I should finish up some of this work I have tonight so I can get out of here at a decent time. Have a good Labor Day, even though you won't be laboring.

8/31/05: Payday! Knuckle me!

***News Flash: Bush administration to release oil from petroleum reserves to help refiners affected by hurricane Katrina***

Not only is it payday, but I have the next few days off from work. Coldplay concert is Thursday night which will be a nice getaway, and now the weather looks like it will be nice!

I'm going to cut this real short tonight, I'm not in a monologue mood tonight. A Live Communications Server SQL backup needs to be put in place, and I guess I would be the one to do that. Thank god this nights thing is almost over with!

P.S. I creamed a frog tonight..Game Over
